Curtin University was seeking the design and delivery of a vibrant precinct to facilitate the education of engineers and welcome students, industry and partners to the campus.
In close collaboration with Curtin’s engineering faculty and the wider project team, TRCB developed a masterplan that was sensitive to the broader context, unifying existing 1970s buildings, facilitating new pedestrian connections and creating a symbolic heart for Curtin’s engineering studies.
Our masterplan was then realised in a multi-staged design process, through the delivery of two new buildings (B215 and B216) and the refurbishment of a basement café.
At the precinct today, the learner is placed at the centre of an educational experience driven by self-development, peer learning and social interaction. The Curtin Engineering Precinct demonstrates the role that carefully considered built form can play in strengthening campus identity and enhancing the student experience.
