Wesley College envisioned a new building to provide its students with the best possible science-focused learning environment.

After extensively consulting with scientific experts and touring cutting-edge institutions, the college had a highly specified brief for TRCB to achieve. Our architectural response was to recycle an existing 1950’s three-storey structure and transform it into a ‘living science experiment’. Contained at the centre of the senior campus – and constrained by a challenging site – collaboration and creativity drove the project from its inception.

Inside, the spaces have been designed to enhance sensory experiences; light, colour, motion, living walls, acoustics, and tactile surfaces ignite students’ curiosity and creativity. Light-filled open spaces, high-tech labs, writable walls and glazed doors, are combined with data collection and observational opportunities to enable students to engage with and learn from, the building.

Designed with dynamic learning in mind, the Mildred Manning Science Centre has significantly bolstered innovative learning opportunities to encourage students to solve the scientific challenges of tomorrow.
